LANAO DEL NORTE — President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Wednesday, November 28, led the groundbreaking ceremony of the Panguil Bay Bridge Project, connecting Tangub City, Misamis Occidental and Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

The project, upon its completion, would lessen the travel time from Tangub, Misamis Occidental to Tubod, Lanao del Norte from two hours to seven minutes. Hence, facilitate the mobility of people, goods, and services 24/7, which would result in economic growth within the surrounding areas.

“Now this road here, historically, I know a lady sa other side in Cagayan. She said that in order for them to get to Ozamiz, they have to travel by sea and it takes hours. Now it’s about two to two and a half,” President Duterte said.

“But with the — maybe, Insha’Allah. Mga 2021 by the time this gets done, it cuts the travel by 20 minutes and make it easier for you to start whatever kind of business in this area,” the President added.

The Chief Executive expressed gratitude to the Republic of Korea for their support in the Panguil Bay Bridge project, and for other numerous initiatives of the Duterte administration through the Build Build Build program.

“So we are trying to build a nation. This is a huge amount of money. And we should thank the Republic of Korea. This is theirs. They gave it as a gift. And they will give even more,” he said.

He then affirmed the public that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) would soon present “seemingly endless roads and bridges,” noting that these initiatives will be visible in the coming months.

During the groundbreaking ceremony the President was joined by Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Philippines Han Dong-Man, Lanao del Norte Governor Imelda Dimaporo, 1st District Representative Mohamad Khalid Dimaporo, 2nd District Representative Abdullah Dimaporo, and Tubod Mayor Leoncio Bagol. ###PND
