President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the swearing in ceremony Wednesday of newly promoted officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP), assuring them of his strong backing in the midst of the present challenges.

Speaking before the newly promoted officers in Malacañang, the President congratulated them for adding another accolade in their achievements as officials of the military and the police.

“With the many challenges that the world is facing today, we need soldiers like you who are always ready to fight for our motherland’s sovereignty, defend the honor of our country, and secure the liberties of our people that we enjoy,” he told the officials.

“May this significant milestone in your respective careers serve not just as a celebration of your personal and professional achievements, but also as a reminder of your sworn duty to serve this country and its people,” the President said.

And as they take on a more challenging role in public service, the President has expressed optimism that they will remain committed in the performance of their respective duties.

The President threw his support to the police and the military, saying his administration “stands behind you and will fully support and provide you with the tools and resources that you and your men will need to be able to fulfill your mandate”.

President Duterte conceded that fighting the ills that plague the country is a daunting task and everyone must continue to strive to realize the shared vision of a safer and stronger Philippines for every Filipino.

“With your patriotism and bravery — may I repeat — with your patriotism and your bravery, I am optimistic that we will be able to achieve our goals and truly serve our people,” he told the officers.

Prior to the swearing in rites for the police and military officials, President Duterte led the donning of rank for Maj. Gen. Allen Paredes, the new commanding general of the Philippine Air Force (PAF). PND
