President Duterte unveils drug rehab center in Bukidnon



Malaybalay City, Bukidnon –– President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Friday, August 3, led the inauguration of the Northern Mindanao Wellness and Reintegration Center (NMWRC) here.

During the inauguration, President Duterte unveiled the marker for the facility, which sits on a five-hectare land donated by the City of Malaybalay.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), the drug rehabilitation center was donated by the Friends of the Philippines Foundation and has a 576-bed capacity.

The Chief Executive said he is “eternally grateful to a great philanthropist together with his son si Mr. Kho.” Kitson Kho is the founder of the Friends of the Philippines Foundation, while Jose Kho serves as its President.

In his speech, President Duterte underscored that the contamination of illegal drugs is a security threat to the country.

“Everyday, marami akong pulis na namamatay pati sundalo namamatay because they are also into the drug campaign. I have raised the matter of drug contamination as a security threat to the country. It is a security threat to the country,” he said.

Duterte pledged during his third State of the Nation Address (SONA) that the illegal drugs war will not be sidelined.

President Duterte mulls sending a frigate if kidnapped Filipinos in Libya are hurt

The Chief Executive will bring up in a command conference next week his plan of sending a frigate “if they begin to hurt” three Filipinos abducted last month in Libya.

“You know, I am not joking. Magpadala rin ako… If they begin to hurt the Filipinos there, ‘yung tatlo, magpadala ako ng frigate. Magpadala talaga ako doon,” he said.

“I will decide within the next… May command conference ako eh. I think it’s Tuesday? August 7… I’ll bring it up soon,” he added.

During his speech, the President also reiterated his commitment that every Filipino should benefit from government funds.

“And my order to Diokno is lahat. No, no, no political color. Bigyan mo lahat. You spread the money of the Republic of the Philippines so that all will benefit,” he said.###(PND)
