President Marcos leads 127th PH Independence Day rites



With the theme “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan” for this year’s commemoration, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday led the celebration of the 127th anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence at the historic Quirino Grandstand.

Before the main program, President Marcos led the flag-raising ceremony and 21-gun salute at the Independence Flagpole in Luneta, accompanied by First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos and their children- Senior Deputy Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand Alexander Marcos, Joseph Simon, and William Vincent.

The President also led the pledge to the flag, singing of the Bagong Pilipinas hymn and the Panunumpa sa Bagong Pilipinas.

President Marcos then proceeded to the wreath-laying ceremony at the Rizal National Monument in Luneta, accompanied by Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. and National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Chairperson Regalado Trota Jose Jr.

Simultaneous flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremonies were held at the Dambanang Emilio Aguinaldo in Cavite; Barasoain Church Historical Landmark in Malolos City, Bulacan; Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine in San Juan City; Mausoleo delos Veteranos dela Revolucion in Manila North Cemetery; Andres Bonifacio National Monument in Caloocan City; and Museo ng Kasaysayang Panlipunan ng Pilipinas in Angeles City, Pampanga.

Flag-raising rites were similarly done in 28 NHCP museums, all local government units nationwide, and all Philippine embassies abroad.

At the Quirino Grandstand, President Marcos’ message was followed by a
Philippine Independence Day parade showcasing various military units and personnel, floats dramatizing historical events and cultural performances.

Cabinet members, government officials and thousands of government workers and students attired in the Philippine flag colors of red, white and blue attended the ceremony.

From June 10 to 11, the government held the “Mga Pampamahalaang Programa at Serbisyo 2025” in Rizal Park that offered free services from more than 50 government agencies and offices in nearly 150 booths that also showcased their programs.

One of the highlights is the Kadiwa ng Pangulo outlet under the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)’s that sold fresh produce for two days.

Meanwhile, Klinikalayaan 2025 offered free medical, dental and optical services. The AFP and other uniformed services also mounted a Static Display during the two-day event. | PND
