President Marcos won’t name names yet in flood control probe pending verified findings

New Delhi – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will not prematurely name individuals involved in irregularities in flood control projects, as investigations are still ongoing, Malacañang said on Tuesday.

Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro maintained that President Marcos will not resort to threats nor release unverified information about the anomalies in flood control projects.

Castro said such tactics were seen in the previous administrations but will not be repeated under President Marcos’ leadership.

“Hindi po gagayahin ng Pangulo ang anumang klase ng pag-threaten lamang. Hindi po siya maglalabas ng anumang mga listahan na hindi verified. Kung nangyayari man ito sa mga nakaraang administrasyon, hindi po gagawin ng Pangulo ‘yan,” Castro said in a press briefing in New Delhi on the sidelines of President Marcos’ State Visit in India.

“Sinabi niya po ito to serve as a warning para po mas mapaganda at mas maging transparent ang magiging budget ng 2026,” Castro added.

The Palace Press Officer issued the statement following calls for President Marcos to name those allegedly involved in irregularities in flood control projects.

In his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA), the President directed the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to submit a list of all flood control projects under his administration and identify which ones were failures, incomplete, or “ghost” projects—particularly those that contributed to massive flooding.

Consistent with his strong directive during the SONA to hold accountable anyone responsible for misuse of public funds, Castro emphasized that the President will not hesitate to file charges against those found liable.

“So, kung ngayon po ay hindi pa po nakakapagbigay ng anumang pangalan dahil most probably hindi pa po tapos ang imbestigasyon.” | PND
