President Rodrigo Roa Duterte had a warm and cordial meeting with US President Donald Trump.
The discussion was frank which lasted for more than 40 minutes.
Both leaders affirmed the close PH-US ties with the US leader telling the President that he has always been a friend of the Duterte Administration.
PRRD likewise discussed with President Trump the drug menace in the Philippines. The visiting US leader seems to sympathize with the Philippines and seems to understand the domestic drug situation.
Also part of the discussion of the two leaders is improving trade relations
President Duterte and President Trump talked about the free trade agreement and the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP), the issue of tariffs on US automobiles and the BPO industry.
President Duterte likewise took the occasion to express his gratitude to President Trump on the assistance the United States provided during the Marawi rebellion.
