From the Presidential Spokesperson – On Typhoon Vinta



It is unfortunate that another tropical cyclone, Vinta, made its presence felt so near Christmas.

Vinta made its landfall yesterday morning in Cateel, Davao Oriental.  At least 72,592 individuals are affected by the flooding due to Vinta according to the NDRRMC. Several areas have experienced heavy flooding and landslides.

We in the national government shall continue to provide assistance to affected communities.

Our DSWD field offices in the affected regions have activated their quick response teams and are coordinating closely with concerned local government units (LGUs) to immediately respond to the needs of the affected families.

Repacking of relief goods in DSWD-Field Office X is also on-going to increase the current number of available Family Food Packs (FFPs) in the office.

The DSWD Central Office (CO), Field Offices, and the NROC have total stockpiles and standby funds amounting to P735,066,659.89.
