Region 10, Cotabato City youth urged to join PCOO “CoVIDeohan” infomercial-making contest

MANILA – The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) once again gave the spotlight to the youth, urging them to continue taking part in spreading the correct information to the public on the country’s fight against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The PCOO, in partnership with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), invites members of the Sangguniang Kabataan Council from Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon, and Cotabato City to join the “COVIDeohan” contest.

The information dissemination contest aims to enable the creativity of the youth in translating the government’s National Action Plan (NAP) against COVID-19 to a more engaging 30-second infomercial video.

Entries must be able to effectively illustrate the foundations of the government’s campaign which is Prevent, Detect, Isolate, Treat, and Reintegrate (PDITR).

According to PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar, the pilot run for more information dissemination projects with the youth in the future will take place in the said areas.

“This is going to be the first time that we will be doing this. We will have it first with Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon, and Cotabato City since I have already met and have initially agreed with them on this,” he said.

“Let this be an opportunity not only for the youth to showcase their creativity, but also to foster their sense of belongingness even during this time when many restrictions hinder them to grow and be physically present with the community,” he added.

Secretary Andanar has been personally engaging with the youth sector through the SK council nationwide. He said their leadership and their involvement in public governance are crucial in shaping the future of the country.

“Our engagement with the youth will continue beyond this project and I am encouraging the youth to continue advocating for truth through disseminating public information and dismissing disinformation,” he added.

Criteria for judging consist of relevance to the theme/content 40%; production quality 20%; originality 20%; and creativity 20%. Deadline for submission of entries will be on December 1, 2020.

The winning entries from SK groups will get the chance to be showcased in government media platforms nationwide.

Mechanics and updates on the said contest will be posted on the PCOO and its affiliated agencies’ social media pages, including the date of the Virtual Awarding Ceremony shortly after the judging period ends.
