Secretary Andanar urges Caraga media to register for COVID-19 vaccination

MANILA – Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar highlighted anew the significant role of media workers in spreading correct and timely information and updates on the government’s national COVID-19 vaccination program.

During the Network Briefing News on Friday, Secretary Andanar encouraged media workers in Caraga region to register for vaccination, considering that they are frontliners under the A4 category of the vaccine priority list.

Media workers have continuously covered the pandemic situation of the country since its onset.

He said that PCOO’s attached agency, the Philippine Information Agency, in the said area has initiated registration for media workers.

“Dunay project ang atong Philippine Information Agency diha sa Caraga . Please contact them para masiguro nga tanan member of the press diha sa Surigao City maapil sa special project ug mabakunahan na [There’s a project initiated by the Philippine Information Agency there in Caraga. Please contact them so that members of the press in Surigao City can be registered and get vaccinated],” he told Gay Tiu, station manager of RMN-DXRS.

Members of the media in Surigao City have already appealed for the vaccine as they worried for their safety and that of their families, while performing their duties unprotected from COVID-19.

Tiu noted that vaccinating media workers will be another way to show the public the vaccine’s safety and efficacy.

“Dako gyud ang impluwensya niini kung kami mabakunahan kay adlaw-adlaw kami nga sige magyawyaw sa radyo, nagkumbinsi nga magpabakuna pero ang mga media wala pa diay nabakunahan. Mas maayo gyud nga mabakunahan arun mas daghan ang among maawhag pa [Getting vaccinated will help influence others. Everyday we encourage more people over the radio to take the vaccine, and yet we haven’t gotten ours. It would be better for us to be inoculated already so that we can convince more people],” she said

Currently, Surigao City is still ongoing with its vaccination for individuals under the A3 category or those individuals with comorbidities.
