The target to reach 100 million vaccine doses delivered to the country by the end of October, since the launch of the country’s national vaccination program, is still on track with the arrival of a steady supply of vaccines, said Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque Jr.
In a press briefing on October 11, 2021, Secretary Roque said the continued supply of vaccines coming in to the country, especially this month of October, has made it possible for the national government to expand the vaccination program to the general population and to children ages 12 to 17 years old with comorbidities.
“Dahil steady nga po ang supply ng ating mga bakuna, magsisimula na sa Biyernes, October 15, ang initial rollout para sa mga may comorbidities na may edad dose hanggang disisyete sa NCR,” said Secretary Roque.
The Palace official added that the vaccination of the general population will also begin this month of October, per the directive of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, as stated in the Inter-Agency Task Force Resolution No. 141.
“Sa ngayon, steady ang dating ng bakuna kaya naman po wala na pong problema sa ating supply. On track pa rin po tayo sa target na 100 million doses para sa buwan ng Oktubre, kaya paghusayan natin ang pagbabakuna,” Sec. Roque said.
Roque mentioned that a shipment of almost 1 million (918,450) doses of Pfizer vaccines arrived yesterday, October 10. The said shipment is part of the 1.8-M total vaccine doses that were donated by the United States to the Philippines through the COVAX Facility, said the Palace’s spokesperson. The remaining 924,300 doses are expected to be delivered later in the day, Roque said.
Meanwhile, some 1.3-M (1,363,300) doses of Moderna vaccines were also delivered on Saturday, October 9, of which 885,700 doses were purchased by the national government, while 477,600 doses were procured by the private sector, said Roque.
There were also 2,132,140 doses of Moderna vaccines that were delivered on October 8, of which 1,384,280 doses were procured by the national government and 747,860 doses were purchased by the private sector, said the spokesperson.
A private sector-purchased shipment of 661,100 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines were also delivered on October 8, said Roque.
“Habang dumadami po ang bakuna dahil steady ang supply natin, mas makakapagbukas po tayo ng ekonomiya. Pag nagbukas ang ekonomiya, mas maraming hanap-buhay. Yan lang naman po ang gusto natin para sa ating mga kababayan, ingat-buhay para sa hanap-buhay,” remarked Sec. Roque.
There are now almost 50 million or 49,673,491 total vaccine doses that have been administered nationwide, according to the October 10, 2021 National COVID-19 Vaccination Dashboard. Of this number, 23,186,969 or 30.06 percent are fully vaccinated.
In the National Capital Region, 16,500,247 total vaccine doses have been administered. “Ang magandang balita po, halos 9-M, or 8, 921, 027 ang nakatanggap na ng first [dose]. Ibig sabihin, 91.25 percent na po ang merong first dose, habang nasa mahigit 7.5-M, or 7,579,220, or 77.53 percent na po ang fully vaccinated sa Metro Manila,” Roque said. ### OPS
