Safe, sure, secure vaccines to be used – Palace

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr on Thursday, January 14, 2021, reiterated President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s January 13, 2021 Talk-to-the-People Address where the Chief Executive assured that no vaccine will be used to Filipinos that is not proven safe, sure, and secure.

On the matter of vaccine procurement by local government units (LGUs), the Palace spokesman underscored that LGUs will be able to do so through a multilateral agreement for the advance purchase of vaccines. This multilateral agreement is entered into by the Department of Health, AstraZeneca, and the LGUs, said Sec. Roque.



PH enters into term sheet agreement for 30 million doses of Covovax

The Philippines is assured of thirty million doses of COVID-19 vaccine, with the recent signing of a term sheet by National Task Force against COVID-19’s Vaccine Czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr with Serum Institute of India (SII) and Faberco Life Sciences.


PH imposes travel restrictions to six additional countries with new COVID-19 variant

Effective tomorrow, January 8 until January 15, 2021, travelers from Portugal, India, Finland, Norway, Jordan, and Brazil or those with travel history to these countries 14 days prior to their arrival, will be subject to travel restrictions and/or quarantine and testing protocols upon arrival in the Philippines, in light of the new COVID-19 variant.


COVID-19 Variants Technical Working Group formed

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, established a Technical Working Group on COVID-19 Variants, in compliance with an earlier directive of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
