Statements

On the PGH

We are saddened by the fire that hit a portion of the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) early morning today.

Press Statement

On 15 May 2021, to further support efforts in ensuring food security and protect consumers, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte approved the recommendations of the National Economic and Development Authority Board to temporarily reduce the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) tariff rates on imported rice, and to further modify the MFN tariff rates for imported pork products.

On travel restrictions

All travelers coming from Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) or those with travel history to these two countries within the last fourteen (14) days preceding arrival shall be prohibited from entering the Philippines beginning 0001H of May 15, 2021 until 2359H of May 31, 2021, upon the recommendation of the Department of Health and the Department of Foreign Affairs.

On Julian Felipe Reef

Contrary to an article in the Inquirer, I have never claimed that Felipe reef is not ours.

On Sinopharm

We welcome the Emergency Use Listing (EUL) of the World Health Organization for Sinopharm.

On the West Philippine Sea debate

Much as President Rodrigo Roa Duterte wanted to debate with Mr. Antonio Carpio, the Chief Executive heeded the advice of the Cabinet and decided to designate his Spokesperson instead. Debating with Carpio is a demotion. A realization. This after the former Supreme Court justice expressed so much excitement. But perhaps come June 2022, we can have one.

On the West Philippine Sea

There is no truth to the speculation of a purported “verbal fishing agreement” between President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and President Xi Jin Ping, nor that Chinese vessels were encouraged to stay in West Philippine Sea despite the diplomatic protests and strongly worded statements of Philippine government officials. This is without basis and is quite simply, conjecture.
