Masbate farmers receive P1.5M worth farm machinery, supplies from DAR

A total of 63 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) who are members of the Tagbon Agrarian Reform Cooperative, located in Tagbon, Milagros, Masbate, received 50 hp tractor and supplies worth P1.5 million from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

DAR, Masbate Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Herald R. Tambal expressed his delight and satisfaction as he witnessed the successful implementation of the support services intervention program in the area.

“This program is one of the nine primary goals set forth by DAR Secretary Conrado M. Estrella III to support and empower the farmers and agricultural communities,” he said.

Tambal said the cooperative is also a recipient of the Major Crop-Based Farm Productivity Enhancement (MCBFPE) under the Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support (CRFPS) project, which aims to enhance and sustain agricultural productivity amidst the impact of climate change.

“The MCBFPE program will enhance the efficiency of small-scale farmlands distributed among the farmer-beneficiaries and rural women, “he said.

He added that the project promotes block farming, a strategy that seeks to advance agriculture by increasing production, land productivity, and farming efficiency through the balanced use of water and fertilizers, and by promoting farming as a commercial venture.

Eddiemar Tumbaga, Chairman of Tagbon Agrarian Reform Cooperative extended his appreciation to the DAR for their invaluable support through the provision of agricultural machinery and other assistance.

“We are very grateful for all the support. Our cooperative members will continue what we have started for the advancement of our cooperative and the livelihood of our members,” he said.
