Marcos Jr. witnessed the signing of a EUR 60 million Joint Declaration on the Green Economy Programme between the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the European Union. The Programme aims to support the Philippines' transition to a green economy by promoting circular economy practices, reducing waste and plastic usage, and boosting energy efficiency and renewable energy deployment for climate change mitigation.

The Philippine government and the European Commission affirmed on Monday their commitment to stronger bilateral relations as they both agreed on the expansion of trade, and enhanced cooperation on climate change, maritime security and green economy.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. welcomed Her Excellency Ursula Von Der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and witnessed her ceremonial signing of the Guestbook during the arrival honors. This marks the first official visit of a President of the European Commission to the Philippines.
