President Rodrigo Roa Duterte Meets with Returning OFW
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence Go gave a warm welcome to returning overseas Filipino worker (OFW) Pahima Alagasi and her family during a meeting at the Coco's South Bistro Restaurant in Davao City on April 14, 2018.
During the meeting, the President expressed his happiness over the resolution of the case of Alagasi who was allegedly abused by her employer in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia some four years ago.
The President then reiterated his administration's compassion towards OFWs citing that the government is willing to help the Filipinos based in the Middle East. But while the President, expressed his compassion towards OFWs, he also reminded them to be extra careful in the dealing the laws and customs of foreign countries.
The President handed over a check worth P100,000 and cash worth P20,000 from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to the family while the Special Assistant to the President gave Alagasi a Cherry Mobile Phone Selfie Flare S6. Alagasi was also offered an employment opportunity as a Welfare Officer at the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Riyadh.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said on Monday that the Philippines and Palau have entered a “new phase” in their bilateral relations. “Our bilateral relations have much potential to grow, as evident in the discussions and the agreements we have forged this morning. These agreements form the building blocks of this new phase in our relations,” President Marcos.

The Philippines and Palau signed on Monday agreements on foreign affairs policy consultations, agriculture, and fisheries. Among those signed were the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Policy Consultations between the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of State of the Republic of Palau; and the Diplomatic Notes for the Study Visit of Palau Officials and Stakeholders to Agriculture and Fisheries Facilities in the Philippines.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. welcomed Palauan President Surangel Whipps Jr. with Arrival Honors, reaffirming the Philippines' strong diplomatic ties with Palau. Following the ceremonial signing of the Guest Book, the two leaders held a tête-à-tête to discuss key areas of cooperation and regional collaboration.
