Sa kaniyang mensahe, inihayag ng Pangulo na isang karangalan ang tumayo bilang kinatawan ng bansa upang ipagdiwang ang tagumpay ng mga bayaning Pilipino na nakipaglaban para sa ating kalayaan at pagsasabuhay ng diwa ng pagkakaisa na tugunan ang kahirapan, kakulangan sa pang-ekonomiyang oportunidad, pagpapabuti ng pamumuhay ng bawat Pilipino, hindi pagkakapantay-pantay, at pagtulong sa mga nangangailangan.
