President Rodrigo Roa Duterte Meets with Returning OFW
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence Go gave a warm welcome to returning overseas Filipino worker (OFW) Pahima Alagasi and her family during a meeting at the Coco's South Bistro Restaurant in Davao City on April 14, 2018.
During the meeting, the President expressed his happiness over the resolution of the case of Alagasi who was allegedly abused by her employer in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia some four years ago.
The President then reiterated his administration's compassion towards OFWs citing that the government is willing to help the Filipinos based in the Middle East. But while the President, expressed his compassion towards OFWs, he also reminded them to be extra careful in the dealing the laws and customs of foreign countries.
The President handed over a check worth P100,000 and cash worth P20,000 from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to the family while the Special Assistant to the President gave Alagasi a Cherry Mobile Phone Selfie Flare S6. Alagasi was also offered an employment opportunity as a Welfare Officer at the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Riyadh.
The returning OFW, for her part, expressed her gratitude to the President as well as Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre Bello

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. spoke with United Arab Emirates President H.H. Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan today, October 14, 2024. During the conversation, President Marcos expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the UAE's invaluable support, particularly the aid provided during recent disasters and the generous pardon of 143 Filipinos, which has brought relief to many families.
The two leaders reaffirmed the strong people to people ties between the Philippines and the UAE and discussed opportunities to further enhance bilateral cooperation in the future.
