President Rodrigo Roa Duterte designated Undersecretary Borje as Special Envoy to special missions aimed at checking the conditions of overseas Filipino workers in North Africa and the Middle East.

The leaders highlighted areas for deeper collaboration, including strengthening trade relations and promoting cooperation in climate action and green energy. They also discussed infrastructure development, digital transformation, and expanding educational and cultural exchanges.

On September 25, 2024, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. formally received the credentials from H.E. Saija Nurminen, the Finnish Ambassador-designate to the Philippines. The meeting comes ahead of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Finland, which began on July 14, 1955.
