Nasaan ang Pangulo? Binisita ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ngayong umaga ang National Resource Operation Center (NROC) ng DSWD sa Pasay City upang personal na makita ang ginagawang paghahanda, pag-eempake na ipapamahagi sa mga kababayan nating maaapektuhan ng Tropical Cyclone Crising at southwest monsoon. Binigyang-prayoridad ni Pangulong Marcos Jr. ang pagbisita sa NROC upang personal na makita ang paghahanda ng gobyerno sa sama ng panahon.
Nakatakda sana ang ating Pangulo na mag-inspect ngayong araw na ito sa North-South Commuter Railway-Balagtas Station sa Bulacan.
Sa report ng DSWD, nakahanda na ang three million boxes ng family food packs sa loob ng 934 storage hubs sa buong bansa habang nagpapatuloy naman ang pagbabalot ng mga food packs sa NROC sa Pasay City at sa Visayas Disaster Resource Center (VDRC) sa Cebu.
Mayroon namang 2.9 billion pesos worth of standby funds and stockpile—

Katulad ng ating nabanggit, mayroon nang 2.9 billion pesos worth of standby funds and stockpile ang DSWD kasama na dito ang mahigit three million family food packs at 28,307 ready-to-eat food packs at 334,794 non-food items. Ipinag-utos din ni Pangulong Marcos Jr. na magtayo ng maraming disaster response centers upang masiguro ang kaligtasan ng mga kababayang maaapektuhan ng sama ng panahon.
Sa Bagong Pilipinas, laging handa ang gobyerno; laging handa ang Pangulo upang siguraduhing ligtas at mayroong access sa pagkain ang mga Pilipinong maaapektuhan ng bagyo.

Para mas gawing simple at mabilis ang mga transaksiyon sa government offices, pinangunahan ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang launching ng Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Hub at eGOV PH Super App ngayong araw. Ang Serbisyo Hub na matatagpuan sa San Juan City ay isang one-stop shop kung saan puwede nang ma-process ang iba’t ibang serbisyo ng pamahalaan. Kahit walang gadget, puwedeng pumunta. Mga serbisyo hub, mga ahensiya gaya ng NBI, PSA, DFA, DSWD, PNP, Public Attorneys Office at Presidential Action Center at iba pa. Puwede ring mag-avail sa Serbisyo Hub ng medical assistance para sa mga gamot at hospital bills, burial assistance, legal counselling, pag-file ng complaint at marami pa.
Dahil ang nais po ng Pangulo ay gawing mas mabilis at convenient ang pagproseso ng mga requirements, hindi na kailangang bumiyahe nang malayo at maglipat-lipat ng tanggapan ng gobyerno kung mayroong lalakaring mga dokumento. Magkakaroon din ng Serbisyo Hub sa Visayas at Mindanao para palawigin pa ang one-stop shop service nito.
Para naman sa mga kababayan natin na walang oras para pumunta sa government offices, mayroon nang eGOV PH Super App na aalalay sa inyo. Smart phone at internet lang ang kailangan at puwede nang mag-renew ng driver’s license, magbayad ng taxes at iba pang serbisyo. Hindi mo na kailangang mag-file ng leave o mag-absent para lang pumila. Hindi rin kailangang mag-alala tungkol sa maglagay sa mga fixers dahil lahat ay puwede nang gawin online.
Magkaibang paraan ngunit iisang layunin – ang wakasan ang mahabang pila sa mga tanggapan ng pamahalaan. May direktiba naman ang Pangulo sa DICT – siguraduhin na tuluy-tuloy ang pasok ng government services sa eGOV PH Super App at gawing regular ang updates at maintenance ng app para maiwasan ang downtime. Dahil sa Bagong Pilipinas, easier and faster ang pagkuha ng frontline government services.

DFA ASEC. SOLANO: Magandang hapon, Undersecretary Castro. Maraming salamat din po sa inyo and good afternoon to our friends from the Malacañang Press Corps. We wish to thank the Office of the Press Secretary for inviting us to this briefing.
As previously announced, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will embark on an official visit to Washington D.C. from July 20 to July 22, 2025 upon the invitation of US President Donald Trump. President Marcos is the first ASEAN head of state to be invited to visit the United States and to hold a meeting with President Trump since the latter took office earlier this year.
The purpose of this visit is to further strengthen the Philippines-United States alliance, to proactively engage the US in all aspect of the relations and seize opportunities for greater security and economic cooperation. We will continue to underscore that for the Philippines to be a truly strong partner for the United States, we need to be stronger economically as well.
Highlights of the President’s visit include his bilateral meeting with President Trump as well as separately with State Secretary Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Despite the short visit, several US businesses have requested to meet with him and he agreed to accommodate them since these businesses are already in the process of investing in the Philippines.
During the visit, the two leaders will discuss closer cooperation in economic, defense and security matters of common interest. As you are all aware, the President’s official visit also aims to address the US tariff proposed to be levied on Philippine exports. The two presidents are also expected to discuss regional and international issues of common concern and how to further strengthen people-to-people ties.
As the chair of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2026, the President will invite President Trump to attend the East-Asia Summit. Coincidentally, our two countries will mark 80 years of our diplomatic relations and 75 years of the alliance next year, and it will be an auspicious time for President Trump to come to Manila.
The President’s visit will be a brief one, with a very tight schedule. The following is a rundown of his meetings and engagements: The President will arrive in Washington D.C. in the afternoon of the 20th and immediately will be briefed by his cabinet secretaries on the agenda for the meetings. The cabinet secretaries include Secretary of Foreign Affairs Maria Theresa Lazaro, Secretary of National Defense Gilberto Teodoro Jr., Secretary of Trade and Investments Christina Roque, the National Security Adviser Eduardo Año, Acting PCO Secretary Dave Gomez, Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Frederick Go and, of course, Ambassador Jose Manuel Romualdez.
On the 21st, the President will meet with State Secretary Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
In the morning of the 22nd, the President will meet with the US President at the White House. The President will wrap up his US trip with a ‘Kapihan with the Media’ in the afternoon before he leaves for Manila.

MARICEL HALILI/TV5: Magandang umaga po, Asec. Asec., of course, we expect na pag-uusapan nga po iyong US tariff. But what does the President aim to achieve with the conversation with the US President?
DFA ASEC. SOLANO: Well, right now, there’s a team, a group of Philippine trade officials who are in Washington D.C., and they are conducting these negotiations. And we hope, of course, to arrive at a bilateral trade agreement or a deal on the reciprocal trade that is mutually acceptable, mutually beneficial for both our countries. So, that is something that we look forward to getting from the visit and, of course, during the meeting with US President.
MARICEL HALILI/TV5: Did the US government mention why did they invite PBBM as the first ASEAN leader?
DFA ASEC. SOLANO: Well, there was no information. But I would surmise that since we have a long-standing treaty alliance with the United States and we have special history with the US. That is something that is not totally surprising, so I would I think that the invitation for the President to visit is an affirmation of the regard that the Unites States has for the Philippines.
MARICEL HALILI/TV5: Ma’am, last na lang on my part. So, ibig sabihin po, walang chance to meet with the Filipinos in Washington?
DFA ASEC. SOLANO: Not this time because it’s a very short visit, so there’s not going to be a meeting with the Filipino community.
MARICEL HALILI/TV5: Sorry po, pahabol: Iyon pong meeting with the business leaders, ano po iyong objective, purpose of the meeting?
DFA ASEC. SOLANO: Well, as I indicated earlier in the statement, the objective of the visit is also to strengthen economic cooperation with the US, and this meeting with the business leaders is part of it. So, we are interested, of course, in getting these potential investors to invest here in the country. And actually, these companies that I mentioned earlier are already in the process of investing in the Philippines.
IVAN MAYRINA/GMA7: Good afternoon, Asec. Initially, the tariff imposed on the Philippines was 17%; and then after negotiations, it was even increased at 20%. You said that a team of Filipinos are negotiating still the tariff rate. Is a free trade agreement, meaning the total elimination of tariff is still on the table with regard to these negotiations?
DFA ASEC. SOLANO: Well, actually, I would defer to DTI on that and to our negotiating team in the US. But we are hopeful, of course, that we can arrive at a mutually acceptable trade agreement with the US.
IVAN MAYRINA/GMA7: Therefore, the lower the better?
DFA ASEC. SOLANO: Yes.
IVAN MAYRINA/GMA7: Nabanggit ninyo rin po iyong mga nakiusap na makapulong ang Pangulo na mga negosyo. Can you please tell us more about those? Would you have the names of companies or, at least, in what industries they are in?
DFA ASEC. SOLANO: Right now, we cannot disclose the names of these companies. But be assured that they are in line with the priorities of the Philippine government with respect to the promotion of our development objectives.
TRISTAN NODALO/NEWSWATCH PLUS: Hi, Asec. Good afternoon po. In terms of defense and security rin, do we expect na ma-tackle din ni President Marcos and President Trump ang issue sa West Philippine Sea? And mayroon po bang mga agreements or defense agreements na possible mapirmahan or ma-discuss?
DFA ASEC. SOLANO: Well, in the agenda of the meetings, there’s going to be an exchange of views on regional issues and concerns. So, ultimately, this issue on the West Philippine Sea would be discussed.
And as to the possible agreements, well, we are hoping to secure the assistance or support of the US government in enhancing the capabilities of our AFP and the Coast Guard, in terms of the capabilities of our armed forces.
LADE KABAGANI/DAILY TRIBUNE: Additional lang po doon, follow-up po doon sa military and defense. Ma’am, mami-mention din po ba iyong pag-deploy ng mga US assets sa Pilipinas in strengthening Indo-Pacific, open in Indo-Pacific Region?
DFA ASEC. SOLANO: Well, as you know, we have standing agreement with the United States regarding the conduct of the Balikatan exercises. So, it’s not totally surprising also if there’s going to be discussions on the possible deployment and employment of military assets to the region.

As an update po doon sa ating mga paghahanda para dito sa nangyayaring Bagyong Crising at saka sa pinalakas na habagat, ang atin pong NDRRMOC, alinsunod po sa direktiba ng ating Pangulo na pangalagaan ang kapakanan ng ating mga kababayan, ang NDRRM Operation Center po ay nakaalerto na, red alert na po simula kahapon and even the previous days ay naka-blue alert na po tayo. Ibig sabihin po, lahat ng ating mga response capacities, lahat ng ating mga response personnel at saka iyong mga prepositioned po na food and non-food items ay nakahanda po itong mai-deploy.
Ang atin din pong inter-agency coordinating cell po ay tuluy-tuloy po ang pagpaplano. In fact, even before pumasok sa PAR ang Bagyong Crising ay nagsagawa na po ng pre-disaster risk assessment and scenario building. Dito po nakikita sa PDRA kung ano iyong mga lugar at saka ano iyong mga pangangailangan at ng mga maaapektuhan mga kababayan natin.
Iyong atin pong response cluster, ang ating National Response Cluster ay patuloy din po na nakaantabay at saka tuluy-tuloy din po ang kanilang paghahanda. In fact, as we speak right now, tuluy-tuloy po iyong virtual EOC natin, kasama po iyong ating mga Office of the Civil Defense regional offices at saka mga regional DRRM councils. Ganoon din po iyong ating mga activated na response clusters; we have ten of them actually – logistics at saka iyong iba-iba pang mga clusters pa ‘no, activated ito para po nakaantabay tayo kung anuman ang mga pangangailangan ng ating mga kababayan.
And then, just this morning po ‘no, nagkaroon ulit ng meeting ang ating inter-agency coordinating cell. At saka at ang ating Pangulo naman po ay pumunta rin, personal pong bumisita doon sa DSWD National Resource Operation Center para po mag-inspeksyon po doon sa ating mga prepositioned goods. And not only that ‘no, even nationwide po ay naka-preposition na po tayo doon sa ating mga food and non-food items, mga family food packs at saka nabanggit ko po kanina, iyong ating mga response operations.
In terms po of the reported damages, as of 9 A.M., mayroon na pong naitala na 7,500 families na apektado. These reports are coming from Mimaropa, Region VI, Region VII and Region XII. But again, as we speak, itong numbers na ito are being updated so I would be referring you later ‘no doon sa ating ndrrmc.gov.ph, doon sa ating dashboard para doon sa karagdagang update on those data.
So, iyon lang po for now. I’ll be ready to answer your questions.
HARLEY VALBUENA/PTV: Hi. Good afternoon po. Sir, kumusta po iyong monitoring natin particularly sa Region II kung saan po possible mag-landfall iyong Bagyong Crising?
OCD SPOKESPERSON CASTILLO: Opo. As we speak ‘no naka-virtual EOC ngayon kasi naka-monitor tayo, ang ating National DRRM Operations Center pati na rin po itong mga regions sa Northern Luzon. Pero just the same po ‘no, what we emphasize to our kababayan ‘no, hindi porket ang track ng ating bagyo ay nandoon sa Northern Luzon ay iyon lang ang rehiyon at saka mga local DRRM Councils na dapat maghanda.
Right now, we are actually looking at the buong Pilipinas po ‘no because itong Bagyong Crising ay pinalalakas niya ang habagat. So, meaning ang binabantayan talaga natin ay the amount of rain na dadalhin nitong habagat at saka maaaring magdulot ng mga pagbaha at saka mga landslide.
In terms of to answer directly your questions ‘no, dito sa monitoring natin sa Regions I, II and III, nagsagawa na po ng mga preemptive evacuation kahapon pa doon sa mga areas na direkta pong tatamaan through the memorandum of our DILG papunta sa ating mga local DRRM Councils and offices.
HARLEY VALBUENA/PTV: Follow up lang, sir, ano na po iyong situation kaya ngayon ng Cagayan River at saka ng Magat Dam kasi dinefer [defer] po yata iyong pagpapakawala ng tubig pero dahil nga po possible mag-landfall later baka po may ganoong possible scenario?
OCD SPOKESPERSON CASTILLO: Yes, opo, kasama po iyon sa scenario building na pinag-usapan although I don’t have the exact data right now doon sa level pero nakaantabay po including itong ating mga DOST-PAGASA at saka iyong mga regional and local DRRM councils para po agarang magpalabas po ng mga abiso about this.
Iyon pong sa scenario building, ito pong mga kababayan natin who might be affected kung sakali nga po na may umapaw na rivers hindi lang dito sa Cagayan ‘no, in other areas also. So, ito po iyong mga kumbaga paunang inaabisuhan na mag-preemptive evacuation.

PCO USEC. CASTRO: Okay, supposed to be dapat announcement ko ito, kaya lang mabilis magtanong si Miss Maricel so ia-announce ko na, okay. First Lady Maria Louise Araneta-Marcos will travel to Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the 17th kahapon to 20th July 2025 on a working visit to meet overseas Filipino workers. The First Lady’s itinerary includes a visit to the OFW and OWWA Serbisyo Caravan, a one-stop government outreach that offers government services to OFWs including legal aid, financial support and welfare counselling to OFWs and their families. The First Lady will also visit shelters for distressed Filipino women, workers and children.
The trip originally proposed and scheduled on the first week of July will highlight the steadfast commitment of the Marcos administration to the welfare of OFWs and their families. She will be back on July 21st.

CASTRO: Opo, ito po ay base po sa security assessment po ng DFA kaya po naibaba ang lebel sa Alert Level 2 at ngayon po ang sabi din po ng DMW ay allowed na rin po ang deployment ng mga returning workers, pero may ban pa rin po doon sa employment ng mga bago pa lang po na kaka-hire, katulad po rin ng dati.
So, still ang direktiba po ng Pangulo ay kung ano po ang kakailanganin ng ating mga kababayan at hindi po mag-aatubili ang ating administrasyon na tumulong at bigyan sila ng pansin sa anumang pangangailangan ng ating mga kababayan.

Baka po gusto lang mag-comment ng Palasyo sa naging pahayag ni Senator Bato dela Rosa kahapon na napag-usapan nga po iyong possible ICC arrest niya dahil po sa nasabi ni ES Bersamin, ang sabi niya po, “Ewan ko mahilig sila sa ganoon na kapag may mainit na issue na pinupukol sa Malacañang pinag-uusapan na naman ang tungkol nangyari kay FL, ngayon gagawa sila ng issue about ICC and a senator to divert the issue. Sino po ba ang mahilig mag-raise ng old issues na sa ating pagkakatanda ay nagkaroon pa po ng hearing patungkol sa isang pre-operation ng PDEA na ang taon pa ay 2012? Parang wala naman po akong natatandaan na mayroon tayong niri-raise na ganoong mga klaseng issue.
At sinasabi po ay diversionary tactic? Okay, unang-una po, ang issue po patungkol sa peke na police report or altered na police report ay hindi naman po ang Malacañang ang nag-raise niyan, nag-isyu niyan; na kailangan lamang po nating sumagot para maipakita sa taumbayan na may mga fake news peddlers, mga obstructionists, mga propagandist na gumagawa ng kuwento na kinakailangan pang mameke ng papel para lang sirain ang Unang Ginang, ang Pangulo at ang administrasyon.
Sa makatuwid, kung ito po ay sinabi na po ng Beverly Hills Police Department na altered iyong ipakita at na-post ni Mr. Tiglao na police report, siya po ba ay sumasakay din sa issue ng fake police report?
Tandaan po natin, ang content na ito sa nasabing fake police report ay una po nating nadinig kung hindi po tayo nagkakamali ay sa Bise Presidente kaya po natin nasabi noon na siya pala ang source ng fake news.
At ngayon napatunayan po natin na altered iyong police report na ito, kailangan pa kayang sumakay ni Senator Bato dela Rosa? Siya po ay napaso na noon sa fake video na AI-generated pala. So, bilang senador sana po ay maging mapanuri din po siya sa mga issues dahil never gagamitin, hinding-hindi gagamitin ng Malacañang ang issue na peke na dokumento.
Bakit naman gagamitin itong diversionary tactic kung kaya naman pong sagutin ng Malacañang na ang ipinapalabas at ipinapakalat na police report ay peke.
TRISTAN NODALO/NEWSWATCH PLUS: Sa ibang topic lang po. Iyong China Ministry of Education ay naglabas po sila ng advisory to students abroad especially those na nag-aaral sa Philippines, warning that the security situation in the Philippines has been unstable recently with the surge in crimes targeting Chinese nationals. So, ano po kaya ang reaksiyon natin sa statement na ito ng China na may problem sa security situation?
PCO USEC. CASTRO: Ang kanilang propaganda or rather advisory sa kanilang mga kababayan ay karapatan naman po nila; obligasyon din naman po nilang pangalagaan ang kanilang mga kababayan. Pero as far as the government is concerned, alam po natin na ang crime rates sa Pilipinas ay gumaganda at bumababa. Ito po ay dahil sa iyan po ang direktiba ng Pangulo at sa pamumuno na rin po ni General Nicolas Torre, makikita po natin kung gaano ba kabilis na na tumugon sa mga pangangailangan ng mga kababayan natin lalo na po ng may concern tungkol sa mga krimen.
At malalaman din po natin na nabawasan na po or nawala ang mga EJK na bunsod ng war on drugs. Masasabi rin po natin na iyong mga krimen na nagawa dahil sa POGO ay nawala o nabawasan at marami na rin pong Chinese na na-deport, na mga Chinese na sinasabing gumagawa ng krimen sa Pilipinas.
At kamakailan lamang po ay naging maganda po ang ranking natin dito sa 2025 Global Peace Index. Kaya po iyong safety and security sa Pilipinas ay masasabi naman na po nating gumaganda as far as we are concerned. So, kung sa pananaw po ng China ay ganoon, hindi naman po natin ito hahadlangan dahil karapatan po nila iyan.
TRISTAN NODALO/NEWSWATCH PLUS: But does the Philippine government promise na iyong mga Chinese nationals who are apprehensive na po because of the advisory, they will be protected by the government?
PCO USEC. CASTRO: Kahit sino po, kahit hindi po Chinese, kahit sino pong tao, Filipino, kahit anong nationality po iyan, lahat po iyan ay bibigyan ng proteksyon.
LADE KABAGANI/DAILY TRIBUNE: Senator Kiko Pangilinan filed a bill seeking to prohibit political dynasties in the country. What is the take of Palace on this proposal given that Marcoses are considered one of the acknowledged political dynasties in the Philippines and so the Dutertes on the opposition? Nakikita po ba natin iyong openness ng Pangulo to support the legislation of this proposed measure?
PCO USEC. CASTRO: I-define po muna nila talaga kung ano ba iyong political dynasty dahil hindi naman po makakapagsang-ayon, hindi naman po umayaw ang Pangulo kung hindi naman po nababalangkas nang buo itong bill na ito at kailangan nating malaman kung ano ang mga provisions nito.
PIA GUTIERREZ/ABS-CBN: Hi, ma’am. There are fierce debates online regarding the proposed measure by Senator Lacson, and the measure aims to penalize children who refuse to take care of their elderly parents. Others are saying na it’s unfair that the state will pass on the responsibility of caring for the elderly to their children just because the state has been unable to provide for the needs of the aging population. PCO USEC. CASTRO: Alamin natin iyong probisyon dito, bakit? Mayroon na po kasing probisyon sa Family Code, Article 194 kung saan isinasaad na iyong magulang at mga anak, they should mutually support each other. Provided na po iyan, ang kaibahan na lamang po siguro dito ay maaaring gawin itong isang krimen, dahil ipi-penalize. Okay, so in other words even before kahit wala pa pong sinasabi si Senator Lacson, ito na po ay provided na sa family Code – obligado po, obliged po ang anak, obliged ang magulang na magsuportahan; you have to support each other.
At ang sinasabi sa Family Code na dapat suportahan ng anak iyong mga magulang na in need, hindi po, hindi naman po kailangang suportahan iyong hindi nangangailangan na magulang. Now, kapag ginawang krimen, ulitin natin, kailangan nating makita iyong probisyon dahil baka naman may kakayanan talaga ang anak na sumuporta at in need ang magulang.
Tingnan po natin kung dapat ngang gawin itong krimen dahil hindi naman po magiging krimen kung iyong mga anak din naman ay in need. So, depende po iyan sa sitwasyon, so depende po iyan sa magiging nilalaman ng bill na iyan para malaman natin kung mayroon bang basehan para gawing krimen ang isang anak na may kakayanan na sumuporta sa anak, pero inabandona ang magulang. Kasi ang magulang na umabandona sa anak, alam nating may krimen iyan. So, it may be considered na kapag iyong magulang na hindi na kayang buhayin ang sarili, pero iyong anak ay nandidiyan at may kakayanan namang sumuporta, pero inabandona ang kaniyang magulang, puwede naman talagang gawing krimen ito. Pero still, sabi nga natin, alamin muna natin ang lahat ng probisyon.
PIA GUTIERREZ/ABS-CBN: Ano po ang masasabi ninyo doon sa ongoing criticisms ng publiko sa gobyerno patungkol sa umano’y failure ng gobyerno to provide for the needs or bigyan ng mga benepisyo ang mga elderly for them to be able to fend for themselves iyong mga magulang kapag matanda na sila at hindi na kailangang umasa sa suporta ng kanilang mga anak?
PCO USEC. CASTRO: Sa ating pagkakaalam, sa ngayon po ay marami ding programa para sa mga senior citizens. Nandiyan po iyong tinatawag sila na parte ng vulnerable sectors na talagang binibigyan ng prayoridad na tulungan. Nandiyan na rin po iyong sinasabi nating 50% discount sa MRT/LRT. So, marami na pong programa sa panahon po ngayon ni Pangulong Marcos Jr. na masasabi nating makakabuti po sa mga elderly. So, hindi po rin naman titigil ang Pangulo na tulungan, mas dagdagan pa ang mga ayuda para sa mga elderlies natin. So, huwag po muna sigurong maging negatibo; tingnan muna nila kung ano na ba ang nagawa ng administrasyon na ito para sa mga elders.
IVY REYES/BILYONARYO: Hi, Usec. Follow-up lang po on Senator Bato. Sabi po niya kahapon na hindi siya a-attend ng fourth SONA ni President kasi mayroon daw po siyang personal conflict or issues with some congressmen and officials from Malacañang. Mayroon po siyang quote dito: “Alangan namang pupunta ako doon nang nakasimangot. Pangit ‘di ba?” May we have the Palace’s reaction?
PCO USEC. CASTRO: Okay lang naman po, karapatan naman po niya iyan kung hindi po siya pumunta. Pero mas maganda po sana, madinig po niya kung ano ang naging trabaho at magiging programa ng Pangulo sa SONA para po hindi siya maligaw, kasi mas maganda pong pakinggan niya mismo kung ano ang sasabihin ng Pangulo kaysa mag-rely sa mga fake news peddlers. So sana kung hindi man siya makarating ay mapakinggan niya.
Para laban sa fake news, kontra fake news, nais lamang po nating liwanagin ang kumakalat na fake news ukol sa umano’y 20% tax na ipapataw sa ating savings. Ano nga ba ang totoo? Bakit nga ba sinabi nating fake news ito na hindi dapat ikaaalarma ng taumbayan? Ang papatawan ng buwis ay hindi savings, kung hindi ang interest na kinikita sa ating savings, hindi po kailan man mababawasan ang ating savings dahil lamang sa sinasabi ng pagbubuwis.
Halimbawa po, mayroon kang P100,000 in savings at 1% interest rate ang kikitain nito. Mayroon kang kikitain na P83.33 interest per month o ang kinita ng savings mo, iyan po ang halaga. Sa halimbawang ito, ang P100,000 mo na savings ay hindi mababawasan, kung hindi ang babawasan ay ang interest na P83.33. So, magkano ang ibabawas na lamang, ang mangyayari po lumalabas na P16.66 lamang po ang mababawas sa interes na kinita ng savings.
Ang halagang ito ay malaking tulong na sa ating mga kababayan bilang kontribusyon na mapupunta sa programa ng pamahalaan na layuning iangat ang pamumuhay ng bawat isa.
Pero, bago ba ito? Sa katunayan, alinsunod sa Tax Reform Act of 1997, may 20% tax na ang interest na kinikita ng ating mga karaniwang deposito sa bangko – matagal na po itong pagbubuwis. Sa totoo po, 1998 pa ito nagsimula, pero patuloy ang panggugulo ng fake news peddlers at obstructionist; iniiba nila ang kuwento. Alam naman natin at alam nila ito pero pilit nilang binabaluktot ang katotohanan para sirain ang tiwala ng taumbayan sa administrasyon.
Tulad ng sinabi natin, 1998 pa po ito at makikita po ito sa inyong passbook o bank statement. Ang kaibahan lamang ngayon ay ang pagtanggal ng preferential rates sa mga deposito na locked-in sa mas matagal na maturity. Sila po iyong nag-avail ng long-term investment o sa madaling sabi, hindi nila iwi-withdraw ang pera nila sa loob ng limang taon kaya mas malaki ang interest na kikitain dito dahil investment nga ito at hindi ordinaryong saving.
Halimbawa po ulit: Sa 100,000 pesos na five years ang maturity at four percent interest rate, mayroon kang kikitain na 333.33 pesos kada buwan. Ang tax nito ay aabot lamang ng 66.66 pesos maliit ‘di po ba? Pero malaking tulong po iyan sa gobyerno. Prospective po ang batas, ibig sabihin lahat ng nakikinabang na sa preferential rates bago pa maipasa ang batas na ito ay nananatiling exempt o hindi papatawan ng mataas na buwis. Kaya huwag magtiwala sa fake news peddlers. Uulitin natin: Huwag po kayong maalarma dahil hindi po bubuwisan ang kabuuan ng inyong savings.
