Press Release

PH records highest weekend jab

The Philippines recorded the highest number of vaccination done on a weekend last November 7, 2021, at 462,160, said Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque Jr.

As of November 7, 2021, more than 64.1 million total vaccine doses have been administered nationwide, according to data from the National COVID-19 Vaccination Dashboard. Of this number, 38.21 percent or 29,477,961 individuals are fully vaccinated.

In the National Capital Region (NCR), 98.94 percent or more than 9 million individuals have received a first dose, while 89.85 percent or more than 8.7 million are fully vaccinated.

With the increasing number of people who are getting vaccinated and are willing to get jabbed with a COVID-19 vaccine, the national government is targeting to launch a “National Vaccination Day” event this November. It will be a three-day event that is part of the government’s aggressive efforts to reach population protection.

Secretary Roque is confident that the population protection target can be attained given the increasing vaccine willingness among the Filipino people.

The said percentage increased by nine points from 55 percent in June, and double from 32 percent in May this year, according to the spokesperson.

Meanwhile, on the proposal to require vaccination among 4Ps beneficiaries, Roque said that an amendment to the existing law may be needed. While the law has not been amended yet, Roque said the proposal is something that should be studied by the Department of Social Welfare and Development as the implementing agency of the 4Ps.

In the same press briefing, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez said as much as 80 percent of businesses have returned now that the NCR is under Alert Level 2. Secretary Lopez reported that business revenues are gradually returning, with some businesses regaining at least 50 percent of revenues pre-pandemic. Lopez added that with the gradual return of revenues, business owners will employ their workers once again thereby giving jobs and income to many.

The DTI chief said a total of 1.8 million individuals have been affected by the loss of employment because of the strict community quarantine classifications that have been implemented before. And with the lowering of the alert levels, Lopez is hoping to regain some 100,000 more jobs under Alert Level 2, with some P3.6-billion revenues to be expected per week, per the National Economic and Development Authority, said Lopez. ### OPS
