President Duterte receives resolutions from Lumad Groups


MALACAÑANG —- President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Thursday, November 8, formally received the resolutions made by the indigenous peoples from different tribes of Mindanao.

During his private meeting with the different members of the Lumad Groups at the Malacañang Golf (Malago) Clubhouse, he was presented with the following resolutions:

“A resolution requesting President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, through the Chief of Staff, to grant a special quota in the Philippine Army for IPs [Indigenous Peoples] in Mindanao.”

“A resolution expressing our conformity to proclamation no. 216, or ‘Declaring a state of Martial law and suspending the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus in the whole Mindanao.”

“A resolution expressing our thanks and appreciation to His Excellency Rodrigo Roa Duterte, President of the Republic of the Philippines, for his consistent support to IPs welfare and development.”

“A resolution requesting President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to provide legal assistance to the Mindanao IP Council of Elders for the filing of appropriate case/cases against the CPP/NPA/NDF and Jose Maria Sison.”

Aside from the Head of the Council of Elders in Mindanao and other members of the IPs, also present were Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) General Carlito Galvez Jr., National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr., Defense Undersecretary Ricardo David Jr., Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director-General Oscar Albayalde, and PNP Police Director Elmo Francisco Sarona.###PND
