DAR grooms Sultan Kudarat farmers as entrepreneurs

President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat – A total of 30 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) are assured to become agricultural entrepreneurs as they completed the 25-session Farm Business School (FBS), a Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) program, which enhanced the agri-entrepreneurship skills and promote sustainable collective marketing efforts among farmers.

The FBS program is an educational initiative to help farmers improve their entrepreneurial and farm business management skills. It allows them to learn about business concepts and practices that are relevant to their specific farming operations.

The 30 ARBs belong to Kalanawi II Farmers Association (K2FA), a DAR-assisted farmers’ group, which demonstrated strong interest in the said program and is the most qualified ARB organization (ARBO) to undergo the program based on the department’s assessment system and site validation.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) Sarah Lauban said the FBS program has 25 sessions, focusing on strengthening and capacitating assisted ARBOs to increase their household incomes.

“This undertaking empowers our ARBs with essential agri-entrepreneurship skills and the government will remain committed to their growth through training interventions and other support services,” she said.

Lauban also emphasized the importance of continuing good practices to further enhance their organization’s progress and hopeful that the ARBs would train a second-liner or second-generation of leaders within their organization to ensure its continued growth and prosperity.

Danilo M. Ea, President of K2FA said that he is thankful to the continued efforts of the DAR for helping them improve their livelihood activities.

“Thank you to the DAR as we have learned a lot of things and enhanced our skills that will help us generate more profit in selling our agricultural products,” he said.

The FBS graduation was attended by OIC-PARPO II Abdullah Balindong, Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer (CARPO) Rhea Marie Betque, OIC-CARPO Maria Cecilia Machan, Kalanawi II Brgy. Chairman Larry Sistoza, and other DAR and local officials, July 15, 2024.
