WARM WELCOME. Kingdom of Bahrain Assistant Foreign Minister Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabur Al Doseri warmly welcomed the 14-man delegation of the Philippines led by the Chief of Presidential Protocol and Presidential Assistant on Foreign Affairs (PAFA) Robert E.A. Borje at the Bahrain International Airport on December 28, 2020. Joining the Philippine delegation are Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Sarah Arriola and Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary for Global Media and Public Affairs JV Arcena. During the meeting of the two officials, Special Envoy Borje conveyed President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s gratitude for the “solid partnership” in upholding the rights and welfare of migrant workers that has “transformed the lives of many for the better’ and expressed the President’s keen interest in broadening and deepening cooperation with Bahrain in areas of mutual interest, including in trade and investments, education, ICT, agriculture and public health, including diagnostics, management and treatment of COVID-19. President Duterte has designated PAFA Borje as Special Envoy for the goodwill mission for a series of intergovernmental meetings with officials of the Kingdom and to undertake Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) and repatriation programs. Kalinga at Malasakit for Overseas Filipino Workers remain a focus area under the Duterte Administration. This is PAFA Borje’s second designation as Special Envoy to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
