President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has approved the extension of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the National Capital Region (NCR) and other high-risk areas up to May 15, 2020 based on the recommendations of the Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) on Thursday, April 23, recommended to maintain the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the National Capital Region, Region III, Region IV-A and all other high-risk areas up to May 15. The President is set to decide on the extension or possible lifting or modification of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) based on the recommendations of medical experts and the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte met with former secretaries of the Department of Health (DOH) and other medical experts yesterday, April 20, to listen to their recommendations on what to do after April 30, or the last day of the extended Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

The Palace announced on Monday that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will meet later in the day with medical specialists and experts in a bid to arrive at a decision on the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Luzon, that was initially extended up to April 30.

Five weeks into the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) over the whole of Luzon, Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque, in his April 16 media briefing, reminded the mayors and governors of local government units (LGUs) to follow the President’s order of strictly enforcing the ECQ in their own respective localities.
