Agusan del Sur farmers’ coop best performing ARBO for earning P87.8-M in 2023

The Lumad sa Adgawan Farmers’ Multi-Cooperative (LAMPUFACO), a Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) assisted organization, was recognized by the DAR as the top performing agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organization (ARBO) for having a total sales of P87.786 million in 2023.

The DAR presented the award under the Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (PAHP) program, a government initiative addressing food security, hunger, and poverty problems through the cooperation and convergence of essential services of various government agencies.

Under the PAHP Program, various government agencies and institutions tap the services of ARBOs to supply them with various agricultural products and food commodities, which enables the farmers to have a steady and large market at a fair price, thus more earnings for them.

In 2023, 470 ARBOs nationwide, benefitting from the PAHP program, accumulated a total sales of P680.68 million. LAMPUFACO, a cooperative that engages in the retailing of agricultural farm supplies, equipment, food beverages, restaurants, and eateries, had the highest earnings for this year.

LAMPUFACO Chairperson Ronel Laspinas said that through DAR’s assistance and guidance, they were able to achieve this feat.

“We were continuously provided with various trainings on improving our farm productivities and enhancing our entrepreneurial skills, as well as, providing us with stable and steady institutional markets for our agricultural products. Thank you to the DAR and PAHP program,” he said.

Under the PAHP program, the DAR links various ARBOs nationwide to institutional markets such as the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, the Department of Health, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine National Police, Department of Education, National Nutrition Council, Local Government Units, DAR Employees Association, Medical Mission Groups, San Miguel Food Incorporated, and Pro Green Agricorp, among others.

DAR’s Support Services Office Undersecretary Rowena Niña Taduran thanked the participating agencies and institutions for their unwavering support and commitment because this is essential in attaining the program’s goals.

“Congratulations to the ARBOs and the participating agencies. Your efforts inspire us all to continue making a difference. Together, we can build a future where sustainability, prosperity, and compassion throughout,” Taduran said.

The awarding culminated in PAHP’s Planning Workshop Sustainability conducted by the DAR from June 25 to 28, 2024, held at Sequoia Hotel in Quezon City.
